Sunset at Hampyeong Bay

Dolmeori Beach is a beach located at Seokdu Village in Seokseong-ri, Hampyeong-eup. Seokdu (石頭), with its Chinese characters meaning ‘stone head’ in Korean, being used as the village name. This beach overlooks the open West Coast, with ocean water and a silver sand beach spanning 1,000 meters, along with a wide pine forest, which boasts its magnificent view in nature. Sitting in a pavilion-like hut among forest and seeing the sun-like chewy, ripe persimmons melting away, inner scars and psychological pains seem to disappear.

Compared to other beaches, Dolmeori Beach has an artificial swimming pool of 12,420㎡ (seawater pool of 7,480㎡, swimming pool for kids of 4,940㎡) naturally formed at a sand beach on the seashore to overcome huge differences between high tide and low tide. Largely expanded convenience facilities, including thatched pavilion-like huts, camping sites and parking lots, are also available. Mud flats, mainly inhabited by crabs, clams and seaweed, are now used as a natural learning ground for children. In the neighboring shore, raw octopus and kuruma prawn are must-eat, delicious dishes.
